photorealism from 09-09

This project was to recreate a photo of an interior space of our choice, using graphite pencils and powder.


I chose Tadao Ando's Church of Light in Osaka, Japan, built in '89. This small Christian church amazes me. The play of light (hense the name) creates an intense, dramatic affect in the church's main interior space, and Osaka continues to play with light penetration and perception throughout the rest of the building. Check it out sometime if you get a chance.





Here's my rendering - this particular angular view of the main interior space intrigued me. I loved working on this project...even if it did take forever.
